Recimple — Privacy Policy
Last updated 14 September 2026
Recimple does not collect, transmit or sell any personal data.
There is no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking, and no server operated by this
extension.
What stays on your device
- Settings — stored in Chrome's extension storage. If you are signed
into Chrome these sync between your own devices via Google, as any extension
setting does. They are never sent to us.
- Saved recipes — stored locally on the device where you saved them.
- API keys — if you choose to enter one, it is stored in local
extension storage only. It is deliberately excluded from Chrome sync, so it
never leaves the machine you typed it on. It is used solely to authenticate
the requests you ask for.
- Cached AI answers — stored locally so the same recipe is not
charged for twice. You can clear them at any time from the settings page.
Reading web pages
Recimple reads the page you are viewing in order to find a recipe on it. This
happens entirely inside your browser. The page content is not transmitted
anywhere, is not stored beyond the life of the tab, and is not shared with
anyone.
Optional AI features
Recimple works fully without AI, and ships with AI turned off. If you choose to
turn it on:
- Chrome built-in AI runs on your own device. Nothing leaves your
machine.
- Claude or OpenAI require an API key that you supply. When you
explicitly ask for a suggestion, the relevant ingredient lines — and nothing
else — are sent to the provider you chose, using your key, and are handled
under that provider's own privacy policy
(Anthropic,
OpenAI).
Recimple does not see, log or store those requests.
Permission to reach those two domains is optional and is requested only at the
moment you select a provider that needs it.
Children
Recimple is a cooking tool and is not directed at children. It collects no data
from anyone, of any age.
